"Acres" marks a transitional period in Dainty's musical career, as he has gained more confidence in his abilities. Dainty aimed to create a style that would appeal to fans of alternative dance with the vocoder synth intro and off-beat piano, while still incorporating familiar elements such as 4/4 kicks and similar drums to his previous track, "Tapestry." Dainty was ecstatic when Sarah Story asked to feature "Acres" exclusively on her "Future Dance" show on Radio 1 before its release.
